These Fiber Rich Foods can help prevent colon cancer

By Noah Arends

A good and simple way to help promote colon health is finding a way to incorporate fiber rich foods into your daily diet. While you may think fiber only comes from various grains like bread, it actually comes in a variety of forms suitable for anyone of any diet orl preference.

Fiber Rich Cereal

Fiber rich cereal such as bran flakes are, well, rich in fiber. Regular consumption of brands such as brandflakes, cheerios, or mini-wheats will provide a great way to get your needed fiber in the morning. Of course there are some downsides to this approach, while some cereals can be a great source of fiber in the morning, some are also loaded with sugar which you should watch out for.

Popcorn

Popcorn isn’t typically considered healthy but a bowl of popcorn can actually be a great help for keeping your colon safe. In fact a normal serving of popcorn contains around 20% of the fiber you need everyday. Of course you should still be aware if the popcorn is coated in butter. Remember, moderation in all things is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Spaghetti

Spaghetti is more or less hardened wheat and as you would expect from wheat contains ample amount of fiber required in ensuring your colon remains as healthy as it can be. Not only does pasta provide a delicious source of fiber, but it also is a good source of carbohydrates-the main source of energy you need to continue operating at peak capacity.

Beans

Beans are one of the best sources of fiber and protein available in addition to being an extremely versatile food. Used in recipes the world over, beans can be used to provide an ample amount of fiber along with other potential benefits depending on the bean.

Apples

Apples are an unique entry on this list as only the skin has fiber. While you may not prefer it, eating an apple with the skin is just a small price to pay for a healthy colon. That being said, not all apples are as healthy as other ones. Green apples have less fiber and minerals needed for a healthy lifestyle as Granny Smith apples.

So what can you take away from this list? Fiber isn’t just limited to toast and bagels, it's something that's present in a large variety of foods which you can incorporate into a wide variety of meals.
