Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. One way to keep cancer away is through your diet. Knowing what to eat more of and what to eat less of can help your body stay healthy. Check out the lists below!
Eat more:
Calcium: Dairy foods that are high in calcium lower your chances of colon growth and cancer.
Vegetables and fruits: Having a “colorful plate” means consuming more phytochemicals which can keep cancerous cells from growing.
Beans: These are FILLED with fiber! And they’re great for gut health.
Whole grains: They have lots of fiber and magnesium, which will help clean your colon out.
Eat less:
Red meat: A diet higher in red meats can lead to an increased chance of colorectal cancer.
Alcohol: In moderation, alcohol is not a big risk factor. Heavy or daily drinking, however, can increase your chances of colorectal cancer by 20-40%.
Preventing colorectal cancer doesn’t mean you have to give up on your favorite foods. Simply being more mindful of your diet and consuming more gut-friendly foods is a step in the right direction.
